PREPARATION AND EXAM DAY CHECKLIST
All of the points below have been shown to help students do their best in exams. Think of the reasons for each of the statements. Discuss them with your children.
Well before the exams,
• Students should check the exam timetable to make sure they arrive for exams on the correct day, at the correct time. This is entirely their responsibility.
• Students should make a revision/study timetable.
• Students should revise every part of their lessons.
• Students should make notes and summaries of the important parts.
• Students should find out about the exam. (Timing, number of questions, choice etc.)
• Students should have extra pencils or pens etc.
• Students should eat regularly and get enough sleep before exams.
The evening before the exam
• Students should not plan to revise a lot of work. This bulk of their revision should have been completed earlier.
• Students should read over their summaries
• Students should try to relax
• Students should get everything ready for the next day; equipment, clothes, etc.
• Students should get a good night’s sleep.
The day of the exam
• Students should get up in plenty of time and try not to be rushed.
• Students should not do revision other than looking over summaries of important points.
• Students should eat a good breakfast.
During the exams
• Students should check that the exam paper they are given is the right one.
• Students should write their name on their exams / answer sheets.
• Students should read all the questions.
• Students should check the time regularly during the exam.
• Students should check the back page of all exam papers to ensure they have finished all of the questions.
• Students should leave enough time to read over all of their answers.
