The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia has highlighted the importance of proactive Civil Society in electoral processes.
This comes as a two-day-long consultative workshop aiming to strengthen the collaboration between CSOs and the National Election Board of Ethiopia kicks off in Bishoftu Town.
CSO representatives, experts from NEBE, and experts from government agencies are taking part in the two day event. Welcoming the participants, President of the Ethiopian Civil Society Organizations Council, Ahmed Hussen, said: “This workshop is particularly timely as the 7th General Election approaches, underscoring the critical role civil society organizations are poised to play in ensuring a free, fair, and credible electoral process.”
The workshop is organized by the Ethiopian Civil Society Organizations Council as part of its initiative to create effective engagement platforms for CSOs and Democratic Institutions (DIs) in Ethiopia and is supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
