Located 40 light-years away, 55 Cancri e is a super-Earth exoplanet theorized to be primarily composed of crystallized carbon – diamond. Its high carbon-to-oxygen ratio and immense internal pressure suggest carbon atoms are compressed into a diamond structure. It orbits its star in just 18 hours, resulting in extreme surface temperatures. While not definitively proven, its diamond composition remains a captivating possibility.
