World Food Day, observed annually on October 16, is a day dedicated to addressing global hunger and promoting food security. It’s established by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in 1979. With the goal of Zero Hunger by 2030, this day emphasizes the importance of ensuring access to safe, nutritious food for all.
In our country, malnutrition remains a pressing issue. According to Ethiopian Demographic Health Survey 2019, 7% of children under five suffer from wasting, 21% are underweight and 37% are stunted. On the other hand diet related chronic illnesses are also on the rise.
