# የስኳር በሽታ እና የአይን ጤና: ማወቅ ያለብዎት

የስኳር በሽታ በአይን ጤና ላይ ከፍተኛ ተጽዕኖ ያሳድራል። ከፍተኛ የደም ስኳር መጠን በአይን ውስጥ ያሉትን ደም ወሳጅ ቧንቧዎች ይጎዳል፣ ይህም ወደ ሬቲና መጎዳት እና እይታ ማጣት ሊያመራ ይችላል።

የስኳር ሬቲና በሽታ (Diabetic retinopathy) ሁለት ዋና ዋና አይነቶች አሉ:

1. የደም ስር ያላበቀለ (Non prolifrative diabetic retinopahty): በዚህ ሁኔታ በሬቲና ውስጥ ያሉ ደም ወሳጅ ቧንቧዎች ይዳከማሉ እና ደም ይፈስሳል።
2. የደም ስር ያበቀለ (prolifrative diabetic retinopahty): በዚህ ሁኔታ አዳዲስ ደም ወሳጅ ቧንቧዎች ያድጋሉ እና እይታን ሊያሳጡ ይችላሉ።

የስኳር ሬቲና በሽታ ምልክቶች:

• የእይታ ብዥታ
• ቀለማትን ለመለየት መቸገር
• የእይታ መቀነስና ማጣት

መፍትሄዎች:

• የደም ስኳር መጠን መቆጣጠር: ከሀኪም ጋር በመነጋገር አመጋገብን ማስተካከል፣ መድሀኒትን በተገቢው ሰዓትና ተገቢውን መጠን መውስድ እና ቋሚ የአካል ብቃት እንቅስቃሴ ማድረግ።
• የደም ግፊት እና የኮሌስትሮል መጠን መቆጣጠር
• ሲጃራ ማጤስ ማቆም
• የአይን ሀኪም መጎብኘት: የስኳር በሽታ ካለቦት ምንም አይነት የእይታ ችግር ባይኖርቦትም እንኳ የአይን ሀኪም ጋር በየጊዜው መሄድ አለቦት።

የስኳር ሬቲና በሽታን መከላከልና እይታዎን መጠበቅ ይችላሉ። ከሀኪምዎ ጋር በመተባበር እና አስፈላጊ ከሆነ በአይን ሀኪም በኩል የተገቢውን ህክምና በማግኘት የአይን ጤናዎን ማስጠበቅ ይችላሉ።

Dr. Mekdes Daba, Ethiopia's Minister of Health, has claimed that recent macroeconomic changes will benefit the health sector. I find this claim frankly baffling. The reality on the ground tells a different story.

Soaring inflation is hitting the Ethiopian healthcare system hard, especially for public hospitals. Our dedicated health professionals are struggling to make ends meet with their Birr salaries that are losing value by the day. The government's budget cuts threaten to leave essential services under-resourced, impacting the quality of care.

The government's talk of "macroeconomic benefits" feels deeply out of touch with the reality facing healthcare providers and patients. The quality of care in public hospitals is likely to decline, leaving vulnerable populations with limited options.

And while the private sector may appear unaffected, their reliance on imported equipment and drugs means they'll be forced to hike prices, making healthcare even more inaccessible for those who can least afford it.

It's time for honest conversations about the real impact of these economic changes on healthcare. We need to demand solutions that prioritize the health and well-being of all Ethiopians.

We live in a time of medical marvels, with treatments backed by scientific evidence and a focus on accountability. Yet, the allure of traditional healing persists, even in areas with access to modern healthcare. Why?

The answer is complex, intertwined with trust, accessibility, and cultural beliefs. Traditional healers are often seen as trusted figures within communities, providing familiar and comforting approaches to health concerns. In many places, modern healthcare can be expensive and difficult to access, while traditional remedies are perceived as affordable and readily available.

The problem, however, lies in the lack of accountability inherent in traditional healing. While experience and cultural knowledge are valuable, they lack the rigorous scientific foundation and rigorous testing that modern medicine demands. This can lead to misdiagnosis, ineffective treatment, and potentially serious complications.

This paradox is further highlighted by the simultaneous recognition and licensing of traditional healers, even as the Ministry of Health reports a primary health coverage exceeding 95%. It raises important questions: How do we ensure the safety and well-being of individuals seeking traditional care? How do we navigate the tension between honoring cultural practices and promoting evidence-based care?

It's time to bridge the gap between tradition and modern medicine, emphasizing the importance of evidence-based care and ensuring the safety and well-being of all Ethiopians. This requires open dialogue, clear communication, and a commitment to providing quality healthcare that respects both cultural heritage and scientific advancements.
