Question
✅ We can add question tags like
isn't it?,
can you? or
didn't they? to a statement to make it into a question. Question tags are more common in speaking than writing.
👉 We often use question tags when we expect the listener to agree with our statement. In this case, when the statement is positive, we use a negative question tag.
✅ Question tagን በብዛት ከፁሑፍ ይልቅ በንግግራችን ላይ እንጠቀመዋለን። የምናወራው ሰው በእኛ ሃሳብ እንደተስማማ እና እንዳልተስማማ ለማወቅ የምንጠይቅበት መንገድ ነው።
✅ ጥያቄ ስንጠይቅ መግለጫችን (statement) አውንታዊ(positive) ከሆነ የምንጠቀመው አሉታዊ(Negative) question tag ነው። በዝርዝር በምሳሌ እንመልከተው:-

She is a doctor. እሷ ዶክተር ናት። አሉታዊ(Positive) statement ነው። ስለዚህ የምንጠቀመው Negative(አሉታዊ) question tag ይሆናል። Isn't she?She is a doctor, isn't she?
እሷ ዶክተር ናት። አይደለችም?
2. Yesterday was so much fun, wasn't it?✅ If the statement is negative, we use a positive question tag.
ከላይ ካየነው በተቃራኒ Statement አሉታዊ(Negative) ከሆነ የምንጠቀመው question tag positive ይሆናል 👇

✅ If there is an auxiliary verb in the statement, we use it to form the question tag.

3. Your mum hadn't met him before, had she?✅ Sometimes there is no auxiliary verb already in the statement. For example, when:
... the verb in the statement is present simple or past simple and is positive. Here we use
don't,
doesn't or
didn't:
በአረፍተ ነገራችን ላይ auxiliary verb ከሌለና Statementu present simple or past simple ሆኖ positive statement ከሆነ don't, doesn't እና didn't ን እንጠቀማለን።

didn't I?✅ the verb in the statement is a modal verb. Here we use the modal verb to make the question tag:
በ statementu ውስጥ Modal verb (Could, would ....) ካለ Question tag ለመመስረት እሱን እንጠቀማለን።

SOME EXCEPTIONS✅ Lets 👉 shall we?
e.g. Let's sunbathe today, shall we?
Let's የሚል ካለው Shallን እንጠቀማለን
✅ I'm 👉 aren't I?
e.g. 1. I'm getting red, aren't I?
በዚህ ጊዜ am I አንጠቀምም። ምክንያቱም አረፍተ ነገሩ Positive statement ሰለሆነ Negative tag question ነው የምንጠቀመው። ስለዚህ የ "I am " negative tag ደግሞ Aren't ነው። Amn't አይባልም!
2. I'm never on time, am I?
ይህ Statement Negative የሆነ ትርጉም ስላለው የምንጠቀመው tag question positive ይሆናል ማለት ነው። ስለዚህ የ "I am" positive tag question ደግሞ "am I" ነው።
✅ Imperative, will/would/could you?
e.g. Pass me the salt, will you?
✅ Negative words (no, never, hardly, nobody, little, ...) which
stand for negative verb need a positive tag. እነዚህ ቃላት አሉታዊ(Negative) የሆነ ትርጉም ነው ያላቸው።
e.g. 1. He never comes, does he?
Never 👉 negative meaning ስላለው positive question tag እንጠቀማለን።
2. There is no reason for leaving now, is there?
