"A cunning thief will break open your coffer and carry off your money, ruthless fire will lay low your family home, your debtor will repudiate interest and principal alike, your barren fields will not return the scattered seed, a tricky mistress will rob your steward, the wave will overwhelm your ships piled high with merchandise;

but whatever is given to friends is beyond the grasp of Fortune. Only the wealth you give away will always be yours."
+Marcus Valerius Martial

Tap. Tap. Tap.

The other end of your pen steadily hits the left page of your notebook as your mind wanders off. There's a tree outside. If it can barely be called a tree. It was a sad little thing, with branches thinner than your patience that barely looked like they could bear the weight of it's leaves. A sad little thing, indeed. It didn't sway, despite looking like a sneeze could rip it off it's roots and send it flying into space. No wind. Pity. It could have made the suffocating heat a bit more bearable. A bead of sweat rolls down your forehead and between your eyebrows, slipping into your left eye. A sharp, annoying sting. The pain yanks you back into the present moment. You stare back down at the notebook, mind blank. What to write?

Tap. Tap. Tap.

mindblowing

and we just...sleep on it

I now cannot stop thinking about how dangerous of a weapon a pillow is

‘On the night of 27 August 1975, I saw Colonel Mengistu Haile Mariam together with another person I could not recognise being in the palace before, pacing up and down the corridor near the room where the Emperor was. I prepared a dinner for His Imperial Majesty. Without uttering a word, I offered it to him and he dined quietly and proceeded into his bedroom. I was then told by the authorities that I had to transfer to another room, to which I replied that I can leave only after I inform my move to His Majesty. I was given the permission to notify the Emperor, at which point I went in and informed Him of the decision. The Emperor commented somewhat sardonically, “Well, if this place is too small for them, we will build them a larger palace.” He then commanded me to do as I was told. The Emperor then staggered toward the window facing the Church of Mary. He opened it and said, “Oh, Ethiopia, do you ever harbour ill will toward me?” Tears started to roll down his cheeks.’³⁵

Eshetu was then taken to the guards’ quarters. He was led into a dark room and the door was locked behind him. The next morning the door was opened again and Eshetu went back to the emperor’s rooms to serve him breakfast: ‘I knocked, but there was no answer. As I entered the bedroom, the first thing that struck me was a powerful smell of ether. Then I noticed the emperor lying motionless on his bed. His face had turned a dark blue colour. His pillow was not beneath his head, but immediately next to it. Everything pointed to his having been drugged in his sleep and then suffocated.

and I can't stop listening to it

this song is so weird

chocolate is one of the best things humanity ever came up with and nobody can convince me otherwise.

Socrates thought that democracy was bullshit because uneducated people who barely know anything having a say in the state's decision-making isn't really the best form of government. He was executed on 399 B.C. for impiety and corrupting the youth after 500 Athenians voted and decided that he was guilty. His death, which essentially proved his point, was a giant SCREW YOU to the face of democracy.

I know it's not a convenient download. I also know it's about a month late, but it's great stuff so... I hope you like it.

That's probably where, for once in a very long while, the artist has to be dispassionate and call each and everything: blood, rust, tears, piss and more "just a shade", so his world continues and he can keep on creating more of them.

and ካነሳውት አይቀር, using cross promotions to grow a channel sucks! I dont mean it doesn't work, it evidently does. it's just that once u hold it as a convenient way to grow a channel, it takes up a lot of the channels space.. Doing it minimally, once a week or sth, actually works negatively in my experience. I guess it's because some ppl don't want to see cross promotions at all and leave as soon as they see one or two. So u either gotta shamelessly over do it or not at all.. I choose not at all cause it gets messy and I may not endorse most of the things posted on the channels I promote..
Which brings me to my point, sharing of its content is kinda the only way this channel can grow at all.. Sooo, share when u see sth u like in here please? ☹️🙄

In case ure wondering, these series of posts are in desperate attempt to stem the mass exodus of subscribers.. had hoped it would stop at 600 but..
Please share if u see sth u like here? Would be much appreciated.

We live to impress and so to deceive; since to impress is to positively deceive. For in the end, we are not😕😒 all-THAT impressive. ~Biruk

When he looked in her eyes after a long while of avoiding them, it was not anger, not affection, surprisingly enough, not even disgust that filled them. It was mercy. There was mercy in her eyes. ~Biruk

I was taught the gospel of peace
Never knew it was a need to put me at ease
It was that way until the day
My euphoric bubble was blown away
The pride I took in being myself
Was taken down from the shelf
Thrown to the ashes and depths of the land
Everyone agreeing upon not giving a hand
It lay there with the bones of my ancestors
I crumbled with the harshness of the people's whispers
They pointed and laughed at my sorrow
Not realizing it was their turn to fol
low.
