UWC Ethiopia is pleased to announce the opening of the UWC Application for the 2024-2026 academic years for students/applicants interested in investing in their future with an International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma from the United World Colleges around the world.
UWC National Committee in Ethiopia is proud to disclose that, in the past 32 years, it has sent more than 165 students to various UWC schools/colleges, out of which 95% managed to secure full scholarships for further studies to top universities in the USA, Canada, and Europe.
Applicant eligibility requirements: 
• Currently 11th grade (applicants from areas where school has not started due to security issues, you can still apply if you have completed 10th grade last year)
• 16- 18 years by 30 September 2024. (Must be born between O1 October 2006 - 30 September 2008)
• Excellent academic standing 
• Highly active in social engagement, great leadership skills, and extracurricular activities
• Has a good command of the English language
• Be an Ethiopian citizen or permanent resident.
Applicants are also required to attach the following supporting documents:
• Photo/Portrait (taken within the last 6 months)
• Transcripts for 9th and 10 grades 
• Recommendation letters (minimum 2, from teachers and activity/leadership supervisors)
• Proof of academic/non-academic achievements and leadership (certificates, awards, etc.)
Deadline: Saturday, 20th January 2024

🧨Kefeta Project Launches Business Competition for Ethiopian Youth🧨

thiopia’s Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) and NICE Innovation Incubation Center, funded by USAID, are joining forces to launch a business competition in 17 cities across Ethiopia.

The Kefeta Project Business Incubation Program will be offered to 85 selected startups in the digital service, textile, leather, and agri-tech sectors. The program will provide end-to-end business development support, including selection, due diligence, and hands-on assistance in establishing fully functional enterprises that create employment opportunities.

The top five contestants, showcasing innovative businesses with promising viability and high-growth potential, will receive access to the Kefeta Start-Up Grant

The business competition is part of the Kefeta Project, which aims to create new jobs and improve the quality of existing ones. The Kefeta project, funded by USAID, is a 5-year initiative targeting the creation of decent jobs for over 8,000 youth in 17 Ethiopian cities.

Ethiopian citizens between the ages of 18 and 29 who have an innovative business idea with the potential for quick operationalization are encouraged to apply. The deadline for applications is May 30, 2023.

Eligible applicants must not have accessed similar training, seed money, incubation, or acceleration support services within the past two years. Women, disabled youths, and internally displaced people are particularly encouraged to apply.
