Working while standing?
For a while, researchers believed that standing while in your workplace was the best solution to the health problems caused by a sedentary lifestyle.
- A 2014 study by Katzmarzik found that working while standing could reduce mortality and be a healthier alternative to sitting all the time.
- Another study titled: "Office standing work shows encouraging signs of reducing postpartum glycemic spikes" resulted in this conclusion:
"This is the first known 'office' study that adds some needed mechanistic information to the existing evidence explaining why avoiding a 'sitting' position at work may reduce the risk of cardiometabolic disease."
❗️ Yet people with standing occupations are twice as likely to get heart disease as people in "sedentary" occupations.
