Bible Project Amharic Localization

This project was deeply personal to me. As a longtime fan of BibleProject, I never imagined I’d be part of translating nearly 100 of their videos into Amharic. From leading the animation to making sure every detail was culturally accurate, this was an unforgettable experience. And the best part? BibleProject called our team one of the best they’ve ever worked with!

AU20 Animated Explainer & Logo Animation

Animating for a campaign as big as AU20 was an exciting challenge! I created the animated logo and various campaign videos, including the high-energy kick-off video. This was also my first major voice-over recording in a professional studio, which made the project even more special.

Angola: Umbangala Bible Translation Animated Explainer

Helping tell the story of Angola’s first Umbangala Bible translation was an incredible experience. I led the animation and sound design, making sure the visuals clearly communicated the impact of the translation. This project was a reminder of how design and storytelling can make a real difference.

I used Rive.app to animate this bad boy on eyuelzero.com... The original animation was done on Adobe After Effects so I had to redo the whole thing. I gotta say that Rive makes it super easy to manage different aspects of the character's movements using different timelines. Then the state machine can merge them all together. My techy ass loved playing with this.

For now, here's just the eyes animation isolated for extra creepiness 😄👀

Big announcement!

This post was due for December... That was when I first planned to leave BTSMY. Then I had to stay a couple more months to finish up ongoing projects, and now the time has come.

eyuelzero.com is live! This is the first time in nearly 4 years that I'm showing off my work in their full glory publicly. I picked out 24 of my favorite projects and included them in my website. You can dive deep and explore each project now. I will sort them and talk about them one by one in the coming weeks! And answer questions in the comments.

I bought a chair!

Yesterday I spent all afternoon shopping for chairs around Sumale Tera (I hadn't even seen Dagi's post then) I found a nice (but small, no headrest) chair at 7500 birr but then they sent me on a stupid goose chase all the way to Kera, just for them to tell me it's not available. I went home very disappointed. I saw Dagi's post at night and cried myself to sleep.

This morning I decided to give Facebook Marketplace another try. I know their prices are often terrible and they don't guarantee that they have what they list on there. I saw this post and was pleasantly surprised. I called the dude, he charged me only 500 birr additional for the delivery, and I just received the item on my doorstep. Rare Facebook Marketplace W!

The chair is comfy and is exactly as advertised. The arms aren't movable but if they were, I'd have lowered them to this height. I don't like arm rests touching me while working anyway. The headrest height is adjustable, and so is the seat height. The thing slides around and spins very smoothly and that's satisfying.

Today was my last day working at Bete-Semay Creative Media... I did forget my external hard disk at the office so I'll go back for it Monday. 😆 Typical of me lmao

It's been a wonderful 2.5 years there, I had a chance to work with incredibly fun coworkers, great bosses, and interesting projects. Them projects ranged from passionate to exciting to impactful... It's not easy to describe in just one post. Over the next week or so, I'll explore five of my favorite projects from that company with in-depth posts. That's the big January 2025, departure from #BTSMY! I'll miss working there. Onto the next big month... February.

It's a slight downgrade compared to my previous work PC, which was a ZenBook Pro Duo... But this new PC has a few pros compared to the PC I had when I was at #BTSMY:

✅ i7-11800H (my previous one was 10th gen)
✅ It's mine, owned by me.
✅ It's so pretty 😍

Things have been rolling in smoothly after this gift... I received a nice old keyboard and a used desk, white and comfortable. The little bumps are super encouraging :)

Today (or tomorrow) I'll be buying a new PC! I've been hunting for good deals locally cause I need the PC urgently. Hopefully this goes well too :)

A lot of success comes down to sticking with something long enough to make the number of mistakes required to actually figure it out. Otherwise, you just keep starting from zero every month.

Every single thing I've ever been good at... or succeeded at... or done for so long, I've had to make ridiculous mistakes.

Imagine if I wasn't willing to make a second mistake when dealing with After Effects. What if I didn't get another meeting after I screwed up that client meeting? 8 years of experience in my field and I'm still making mistakes. Don't be your own bully, boys.
