Till then 🫡

Casual reminder that @Eldad_A is the filtered channel, this is SPAMS

I have a longer vent on how March went and the takeaways, but let me give you a short one first:

CHECK YOUR EMAILS!!!

Sometimes, your next opportunity is just sitting in your inbox. Most of you probably understand that, but apparently, that’s not the reality on the ground in Ethiopia.

I apologize for the sweeping conclusion I’m about to make, but if you can’t do something as simple as checking your email (even after being reminded through calls and texts might I add) how do you expect opportunities to come your way? Do you really believe that, as an average Ethiopian university student, things will just be handed to you? The system might be flawed, and circumstances might be tough, but how can you blame any of that when you won’t even take the smallest step to change your situation?

Yeah, more venting is on the way. But what do you guys think?

Oof... Mini vent time

Where was that incompetence graph mnamn? The learning curve? Valley of despair? That type of stuff....

Been catching up on this 18 y/o I know who was an intern last year and somehow became a senior ML/AI engineer this year. It reminded me of where I was last year, hence...

(I'll give it to him; he IS one of the most accomplished people I know for his age. But still, I can recognize cap when I see one.)
(He's not in this community nor in this country lol)

I like how they explain it, especially for dummies like me. (I even used "Calculus for Dummies" for my calc class too!)

Репост из: Me Says
I really want to see someone from Ethiopia make it big without going abroad. Almost everyone I know who has a successful story—whether it’s in business, art, or just living a “modern” life with travel and experiences—has had some kind of exposure to the outside world.

Take cafés, for example. The most beautiful and high end ones are usually owned by people who have studied or lived abroad. The same goes for vlogs and creative projects—many of the best ones come from people with international experience. Of course, there are locals who have built success without ever leaving, but they’re much fewer in number.

It makes me wonder—what’s missing? Is it just about exposure? Do we need to open our minds more? What is globalization not doing for us?

My friends and I often look at successful people in their 30s and think, Wow, how did they make it? And then, almost every time, we find out they went abroad. But what if we want to make it here? What does it take to build something great without having to leave?

Be honest, when was the last time you checked your email?
