Jigjiga University hosted a crucial meeting with the Somali Regional Education Bureau, led by the Bureau Head and Deputy Bureau Head, alongside the university’s President and academic staff.

The discussion focused on strengthening efforts to improve education quality, addressing gaps in the system, and supporting 12th-grade students preparing for national exams. The meeting concluded with the formation of a joint committee between the university and the bureau to enhance the curriculum, provide academic support, and advance exam digitalization.

Jigjiga University remains committed to serving the Somali Region through quality education, research, and innovation, from hosting over 15,000 students for tailored exam preparation to advancing local agriculture and technology.

We are proud to have graduated more than 25,000 female students, many of whom are now leaders in various fields. Our staff includes over 1,600 women, more than 50% of our staff, driving the university’s mission forward.

National Conference on “Migration and Displacement in Ethiopia: Policies, Practices and Durable Solutions” Opens in Jigjiga

The National Conference on “Migration and Displacement in Ethiopia: Policies, Practices, and Durable Solutions” opened today at Jigjiga University. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Maslah Isse, followed by insights from Dr. Biniam Bogal, Director of the Migration Institute.
Keynote speeches were delivered by a delegate from the Somali Region Bureau of Disaster Risk Management, Dr. Alemu Asfew, Director of ReDSS, and Prof. Brook Hailu, former EDA President and current Executive Committee member. Discussions focus on policy gaps, best practices, and durable solutions.
