What is verb and its uses?
Verb is a word that shows action.It is used to show that something done or happened.
Verbs are the base elements to speak,write,learn and teach English.So that,they are integral part of our daily life.Verbs are classsified in to:-Helping(auxiliary)verbs and Main verbs.Helping or auxiliary verbs are the base for grammar .But they don't have meaning when alone.There are about 15 helping verbs in English.We divide helping verbs in to Primary helping verbs and modal helping verbs.Primary helping verbs are also said to be auxiliary verbs and,these are verbs to be,verbs yo have and verbs to do.Verbs to be(be,been,is,am,are,was,were&being) show the being of something or They show that the action receiver is the sub ject it self.Verbs to have(have,has&had) show the ownership.Verbs to do(do,did,does&done)
Modal auxiliaries are unique form of verbs.They describe the necessity,ability,possibility& obligation.These are:-Can,Could,May,Might,Will,Would,Shall,Should,Must,Haveto(has to,had to),Need to...
The main verbs have meaning by themselves. They are also called Lexical verbs.They have a number of classification.They can be clasiified in to:-Transitive and Intransitive,Linking,Dynamic and Static,Regular and Irregular,Mental and Physical ...etc.
But here our focus is Regular and Irregular verbs because these both are the most essential to construct tense at elementary and high school level(0--10).
So,as you suggest from its name,Regular verbs are formal verbs that means if we want to make the past we simply add "d","ed"or"ied".
Example:-Help ➪Helped,Classify➪Classified
Irregular verbs are note normal or formal verbs that means,if we want to make them past, we don't add "d","ed"or"ied".
Example:-Buy➪Bought,Give➪Given
