Term loans are the predominant form of bank credit in Ethiopia, accounting for nearly 75% of outstanding loans. In addition to term loans, Ethiopian banks offer a range of credit products, including overdraft facilities, merchandise loans, letters of credit, and guarantee facilities. Advances constitute 15.5% of outstanding loans, while overdrafts and other credit products make up the remaining 9.5%.

Shega was honored to participate in the Internet Development Conference (IDC) organized by the Internet Society in Addis Ababa from January 22 to 24, 2025. IDC 2025 united key stakeholders to strengthen Internet infrastructure and regulatory frameworks in African IGAD countries.

During the conference, Shega engaged in discussions on the digitization of financial services in Ethiopia. Our Chief Operating Officer, Melka Girma, represented us in a panel highlighting our contributions to developing digital financial services.

The panel showcased our flagship initiative, https://digitalfinance.shega.co/, which empowers stakeholders with essential data and insights for navigating Ethiopia's DFS landscape.
