✞✞✞Saint Mary the Perfume Bearer (Mary the Repentant)✞✞✞
=>Saint Mary the Perfume Bearer, as the Holy Bible tells us, washed the feet of the Holy Savior in the house of Simeon with her tears. And our Lord Jesus Christ forgave her and added her to the 36 Holy Women. (Luke 7:36-50)

✞Mary, the Perfume Bearer, lived during the time of the ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ and was very beautiful. However, beauty becoming the source of goodness has not been seen.
✞Our world has had many women who lapsed and made others lapse because of their good looks. It is very sad to see and hear, from Cleopatra to the self-titled “Models” of our days, making the gift of God a delight for Satan and a road to Gehenna.
✞And on the other side, when we think of the saints like Arsema (Hripsime), Thecla, Tecla, Marina, Tatus (Tatia), Irene, Eirene, Athanasia, Sophia, Hilaria . . ., who chose to be heavenly brides by shunning their acclaimed beauty, we are delighted. In like manner, we know today of many of our mothers (sisters) who chose and are moving in a similar good path whom God knows.
✞St. Mary when Satan compelled her to do evil by the beauty she was given, she agreed and strode to become his trap. And for years she took men who were of lustful eyes and of weak hearts captive to the way of sin.
✞And from her high regard for her beauty she used to look time and time again at her countenance in the mirror. And God Who has a day to call everyone to salvation (if anyone notices), sent His call to Mary. However, His call was not through a sermon, a hymn or a book.
✞St. Mary as usual stood before a mirror and looking at her hair, forehead, eyes, nose, teeth … started admiring herself. But immediately the Holy Spirit gave her a thought that said this body would rot in the soil and corrupt and she became very sad. And not to lose hope, she heard the news of our Lord Jesus Christ.
✞And because she had to choose, she decided to go from death to life and from darkness to light. And she prepared 3 gifts that she would offer before her God. And because Satan did not want to lose her, he created many obstacles on her way so that she would not reach to Christ. But as her decision was true, she went forth to her Creator shaming Satan.
✞And the gate keepers of Simeon the leper could not keep her back as well. She entered and sacrificed all that she had to our Savior. She offered,
1. Her tears from within
2. Her hair from her body and
3. An expensive perfume from her property.
✞And because she loved much, her sin was forgiven and she became our holy mother. And after serving with the Apostles for many years, she passed away on this day.
✞✞✞Saint Apolidus (Hippolytus) the Teacher of the Whole World✞✞✞
=>The teacher of the world
*wrote many works and homilies
*is a pillar of the Church
*wrote 38 statutes
*was one who struggled for the Upright Faith
*accepted bitter death in gladness
*was the Archbishop of Old Rome
*and was a father who was like the Apostles.
✞This star who lived at the end of the 2nd century was renounced by [Roman] Catholics (as they considered him as the first antipope or a priest in Rome or as a Bishop of Porto). Though they say, “There was no bishop called Apolidus”, their reason is of Satan. The world knows that they said this because 250 years before they changed their faith, he taught of the one nature [of Christ].
✞Our father St. Apolidus (Hippolytus) was killed (martyred) on Yekatit 5 (February 12), and his body was found on Yekatit 6 (February 13), on this day.
