Ethiopian Capital Market Authority has made the draft ‘Public Offer directive’ available. Below are some of the requirements to offer securities to the public set out in the Draft Directive:

🔹 *Eligible Entities*: Share companies, statutory bodies and banks are authorized to offer securities to the public.

🔹 *Requirements for Issuers:* Compliance with corporate governance standards, audited financial statements, solvency, freely transferable securities, and cash-based public offers.

🔹 *Prospectus*: A valid and approved prospectus.

Musk's brain implants months away

Elon Musk’s brain implants are closer to becoming a reality. The billionaire said his brain-computer interface company Neuralink should be ready to implant its first devices into human subjects within six months.

The devices, which Musk describes as smartwatches in your skull, will let users control a computer through brain activity; they have already been implanted in monkeys. Though Musk claims Neuralink will eventually help people with diseases or disabilities like congenital blindness, many experts are skeptical.

World's Richest 30 year old's company - FTX files for bankruptcy

Canva Lands $40 Billion Valuation Following Funding Round

Users have created more than seven billion designs with Canva. The software allows users to modify more than 800,000 templates to create images for social media and online businesses without hiring a graphic designer.

The company has kept investors hooked on potential Canva stock since it reported an astounding post-funding valuation.

The company’s valuation surged nearly seven times over from its June 2020 post-funding valuation of $6 billion.

As of now, there are no public announcements or official plans for the Canva IPO. The company remains private for now and does not have public stock.

Amhara Bank to Start Operations the Coming Saturday

Amhara Bank has announced it will start operations on June 18, 2022 with 70 branches. It will start operations with a signed up capital 6.5 billion birr and paid up capital of 4.8 billion birr. It has also said that it will increase its number of branches to over a 100 by July 7th.

Leading up to its opening on Saturday the 18th of June, the bank has various activities lined up including a Blood Donation program this Thursday and an Arts and Cultural night on Friday.

M-Pesa to transact in 200 countries after deal with Visa

Millions of M-Pesa customers can now pay for goods and services in more than 200 countries under a deal with Visa that further cements the platform’s leading position as a mobile money service provider, says Business Daily Africa.

Safaricom inked the deal with Visa to form M-Pesa GlobalPay Visa Virtual card that allows them to transact up to ETB 66,000 per payment and ETB 133,000 per day.

Ethiopia: 4th on the Top 10 African Countries list of Hotel Chain Pipeline Survey

Ethiopia has been identified by W Hospitality Group as one of the top 10 countries with the most hotel rooms under construction in 2021. It has been stated that the country has 33 hotels with 5,886 hotel rooms in the pipeline of which 65% or on the construction phase.
