The compost (ፍግ) they spread on the grass next to the walkway stinks. Add the scorching sun and frequent watering, you will get a cocktail of moist biomass steam evaporating for days. It smells like you are in crammed ሀይገር. It really discourages you from walking, contrary to its purpose

I was walking last time and found the gardener, I told him that the smell is not inviting for people to walk and might even give me flu. I asked if there was a better way to care for the grass that doesn’t stink. He bluffed and told me it was not a big deal and it will go away soon. I was not expecting a better answer anyway … I told him how about we plant aromatic flowers and spices, like ናና፤ በሶበላ፤ ጤናዳም፤ ኮሰረት፤ ደማከሴ ... ማንምን .... hoping it might absorb or counter the harsh smell. He said “am not the one planting the flowers, am just watering here,” I said fine and walked away

Later I saw another gardener and raised the same question. He told me, that the plants are chosen by ወረዳ ግብርና ቢሮ and he thinks they are selected by professional botanists and landscape designers. He added he and his team of gardeners are not allowed to plant anything else or even change the layout

Well, I guess I have to try it myself. Next time am walking, am bringing በሶብላ with the seeds and sprinkle it on the edge along the way. I will drop ጤናዳም and ናና steams and might even try to plant them properly in a hidden corner without being noticed
