Canada wants to lead the world, they still have unsettled bills from their Extermination efforts against first nations to pay. They offered them 50 billion CAD but that was turned down as that is “peanuts” for investors (say from Saudi Arabia, Dubai, etc…)
Before you lead you settle your bills no? 👀
In 2024, some Canadian First Nations rejected a $47.8 billion child welfare settlement offered by the federal government. This deal, finalized in July 2024, aimed to fix decades of underfunding for on-reserve child and family services, following a 2016 Canadian Human Rights Tribunal ruling. It included $23 billion in compensation for affected kids and families, plus reforms. The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) held a vote in October 2024—63% said no, arguing it didn’t go far enough, lacked transparency, and wasn’t co-developed with them. Critics, like Cindy Blackstock, called it a "starting point" but not justice. Tensions flared over control and long-term impact!
