Here's the thing.

There'll come a time (or it's the time, has been the time) when you accept or reject a lot of things - could be friends, a person asking you for a favor, job applicants, your co-founder.... Whatever the scenario is, please don't ghost. Take it from someone who's been ghosted and has ghosted people, there are people that are counting on your word who you'd be doing a disservice by not giving them the "no" that they deserve, however painful or tiring that task may be.

  •   We WILL catch up, we're on a good track
  •   We might be able to catch up
  •   I believe in History, civilizations come and go and all that....
  •   The ship sailed a long time ago (and I'm actually concerned a bit about that)
  •   The ship sailed a long time ago (and I just want to get out of here)
  •   The ship sailed a long time ago
  •   I don't know what to think

So we keep talking about the AI race and how Africa is so behind in technology and all that right, in all honesty though, do you think we have the slightest chance of catching up or has the ship sailed a long time ago?

Also, if any of y'all know any female active developers (app, web...) in the Ethiopian tech space, please let me know.

Back to work 🚶‍♀🚶‍♀

Me looking at my checklist after Shape:

See y'all tomorrow 🫡

(Motivation speech 101 loll 🚶‍♀🚶‍♀)

Full report is coming sometime soon, but if I've learned one thing from Shape Africa, this'd be it:

However hard you think you're working, however ambitious you think you are, however accomplished you could be, you can always, ALWAYS, do better. And not just better for you, but better for the people and the environment surrounding you. Better work, bigger impact, and even more fun, you can actually do that and much more.

Personally, realizing that the limits I subjected myself to were too narrow was quite a light bulb moment. And what I loved from Shape was how I was surrounded with people who walked the talk, whose stories I heard and went like "hey, that's actually possible", and not from you know... motivational speakers.

(Smartly ofc. Rest, making sure your direction is right, prioritizing are all important - no need to burn out)

So one of the shapers recommended this event for me to go: https://igf.africa

You guys should check it, free food, and good conversations. It's focused on Tech policies.

Tomorrow - Friday, UNECA
(Someone please go 🥹🥹 I need reports)

Am I the only one who found that funny? Ok 🚶‍♀🚶‍♀
