@ACFN691The Minister of Education, Berhanu Nega (Professor), has indicated that the initiative to require students who have completed their third year of university studies to provide one year of service before entering their fourth year will be implemented starting in 2019.
@ACFN691Berhanu Nega (Professor); "It may not happen next year, but after completing the entire legal system, students who completed their 3rd year of university studies in 2019 will be required to provide 1 year of service before entering their 4th year starting in 2019."
@ACFN691"It has been there before, it is not new, it was there during the time of Janhoi (meaning the time of Emperor Haile Selassie)," they explained.
"We are doing this because it has two benefits: first, the children will not only learn academic subjects, but also practical education for a year, where they will go and work and get acquainted with the community. Second, since there is a shortage of teachers, we will be able to introduce children to teaching, even if it is for just one year," he said.
