1⃣ After certain verbs
Some verbs must be followed by an infinitive.
→ agree, decide, hope, learn, promise
✔️She decided to apply for the job.
✔️They promised to help us.
2⃣ After adjectives
Used to give more information about feelings or opinions.
✔️It’s difficult to understand him.
✔️I’m happy to see you again.
3⃣ To show purpose (why something is done)
✔️He studies hard to pass the exam.
✔️I exercise daily to stay healthy.
5⃣ After question words (what, where, how, etc.)
Used when the question word is part of the sentence, not a real question.
✔️I don’t know what to say.
✔️She’s learning how to drive.
❌ Common Mistake
Wrong: They suggested to go.
Right: They suggested going.
(Some verbs like suggest, enjoy, avoid use -ing, not infinitives.)
